Historical Notes

 

 

The first organized Control Line contest was held at Brookside Park on December 7, 1941

 

 

The first flying devices to use paper were kites in China about 2000 years ago.

 

 

Brothers, Victor and Joe Stanzel revolutionized the model airplane world with the introduction of the world's first control line kit in 1939, the Tiger Shark.

NCCL is dedicated to promoting safe model airplane building, flying and competition.

 

About Us

Charter

The North Coast Control Liners (NCCL) is a control line model airplane club chartered under the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).

 

Purpose

Our purpose is to promote safe model airplane building, flying and competition.  Through cooperation with the Cuyahoga County Fairground, we maintain an area of the Fairground parking lot as a control-line model flying site for our members.

 

Requirements

Requirements for flying at the site is Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) License (price varies with age group), and club membership, currently a nominal $20.

 

Joining AMA

Information on joining the Academy Of Model Aeronautics (AMA) can be obtained from us, your local hobby shop or directly from the AMA.

 

Flying Restrictions

The following flying restrictions apply:

 

  • All AMA safety rules must be followed.
  • The following additional Field Rules must be followed:
    • Flying must be confined to the hours of 9:00 AM and dusk.
    • Mufflers must be used on all engines .15 size and above.
